F-form
What is a F-form?
Did a beloved one passed away? Unfortunately, there are many things which should be arranged. The Belastingdienst is one of those things. Whenever someone passed away and a last tax return should be done, the Belastingdienst will send a F-form. This tax return should be filed by the surviving relatives of the deceased. Normally the survivors receive this form within 3 months after their beloved one passed away. When the decease occurred in the first quarter of the year, this may take some longer. The F-form is available from June. If you expect that the deceased has to pay or receive money and you did not receive a F-form, you can request one via the BelastingTelefoon for surviving relatives: 0800 – 235 83 54.
Filling in the F-form
The F-form is a paper version of a tax return, and it is quite extensive. However, you only have to fill in the applicable fields. The F-form is accompanied with an explanation per question and a calculation tool to help you fill in the right amounts. The tax return should be done before the date mentioned at the form. Whenever you need more time, you can ask for a postponement via the BelastingTelefoon for surviving relatives: 0800 – 235 83 54.
Do you want to declare your tax return for yourself and for your deceased fiscal partner?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to arrange this in one form. In the F-form, only the data of the deceased one can be filled in. The data of the deceased person cannot be filled in online because the DigiD account will be blocked after passing away. So, you do have to fill in two seperate forms. However, you can still apply for fiscal partnership during the whole year. In that case, you can divide the income and tax rebates in the way you want. If you choose for a fiscal partnership during the whole year with the deceased, you have to ask for a paper version of the P-form for yourself. You can do this via the BelastingTelefoon for surviving relatives: 0800 – 235 83 54. Besides that, you will have to wait with filing the F-form until the year ended. For dividing the income and tax rebates, you have to know the numbers for the whole year. In this case, the F-form should be filed before the 1st of May in the year following the decease. Keep in mind that this can delay the completion of the estate.
When you do not choose to be a fiscal partner during the whole year, you can file your own tax return via the online platform. In that case, you are a fiscal partner with the deceased until the date of death.
You filed the F-form. What’s next?
It can take a while until you hear something from the Belastingdienst. When you filed the F-form in the year of the decease, you will get a message from the Belastingdienst within 5 months. When you filed the F-form the year after the passing away and before the 1st of May, the Belastingdienst pursues to notify you before the 1st of July. Whenever you file the F-form at a later stage, you will receive a message from the Belastingdienst within 3 months. Eventually, the contact person will receive the letters. Among them are the tax assessment and a request for communicating the correct bank account. Be aware that you will give them another bank account if the account of the deceased is blocked.
