Yes. The notary costs for taking out a mortgage are deductible. After buying a home, the question is always which financing costs are deductible for the tax return and which financing costs are not deductible. Notary costs are also deductible when selling a home.

Deductible costs
Only the costs that are made to get the mortgage of your new home are deductible. This means you have to take a good look at which costs have been made to obtain the loan. The following costs are deductible:
- The costs for drawing up the mortgage deed.
- The costs for registering the mortgage deed with the land registry.
On the other hand, many costs are not deductible on a bill of account from the notary, namely:
- The costs for drawing up the deed of delivery.
- The costs of registering the deed of delivery with the land registry.
- The transfer tax.

How does it work?
Unfortunately, it does not work that you can deduct all the deductible costs in total from the amount that you have to pay to the tax authorities. You may only deduct it from your income. This means that if you are allowed to deduct a total of € 2,000 in deductible costs and your annual income is, for example, € 35,000, you only have to pay tax on an income of € 33,000. If you have a tax partner, you can divide the deductible costs among yourself, this can provide additional benefits.
