You can find your citizen service number (in Dutch: burgerservicenummer) on an identity document, such as your driver’s license or passport. Besides that, your citizen service number is stated on the tax return letter you received from the Belastingdienst, and it is stated on previously received tax assessments.

Do you have to file an M-form? Only then, you have to know this exact migration date. It is the date you registered yourself at the new municipality. The exact date can be found in the registration letter.

When you want to file the tax return in the online environment, you must have a DigiD account. If you have a tax partner, both you and your partner are required to have a DigiD account. Here, you can apply for a DigiD. Unfortunately, the steps are only available in Dutch. On our website, we briefly explain the application process.

As you pay tax on the income you receive in the Netherlands, the Belastingdienst needs your annual income statement(s). Typically, you receive your annual income statement after the end of the calendar year. Your employer is obliged to send you the annual income statement yearly.

Obviously, this only applies to you if you own a house. There are different kinds of documents you need when declaring your house in the annual tax return:

• WOZ-value 1^st of January of the year before the year for which you are filing a tax return. You can find the WOZ-value on www.wozwaardeloket.nl.
• Annual overview of your mortgage. Yearly you will receive an annual overview of your mortgage. Often it can be found in the online environment of your bank.
• If you bought or sold a house: the notary settlement. This is something you receive from your notary.

Sometimes, you might be entitled to certain deductibles. On our website, you can check whether you are. Are you? In that case, you need information (e.g. the deductible amount) about those deductibles when filing your tax return. Check our website to see which amount is deductible.

Yearly, you will receive an annual overview of your loans and other debt. Often it can be found in the online environment of the applicable organization.

This only applies to you if you already did a provisional tax return. If you did a provisional tax return, you have to declare the amount you already paid or received. You can find this amount in the provisional tax assessment you received from the Belastingdienst.
