Refinancing, or oversluiten, means replacing your current mortgage with a new one, either at your current lender or a different one. Whether it saves you money depends on the gap between your current rate and today's best rate, minus the oversluitkosten (the refinancing costs). Those are the boeterente (the early-repayment penalty) your current lender charges, plus notary and advice fees. As an indication, a boeterente often lands between €3,000 and €15,000.
