What does this page cover?
This page describes how we are paid for each thing we do. The answer differs per service, because the statutory rules differ per product. There is no single general answer, so each service line gets its own.
If you come from a market where the product provider pays the adviser, the Dutch arrangement will look unfamiliar. The law here draws the line per product, not per firm. That is why the answer below is given service by service.
This page does not cover what our services cost. Prices live on the services and pricing page, and this page routes you there instead of repeating a figure. It also does not cover how we source and review what we publish, which our editorial guidelines answer. For the firm behind all of it, read our page about us.
How does each service line get paid?
Each line has one of two answers. For tax, mortgage, pension and life and other complex products, the client pays a fee for the advice. For non-life insurance, the insurer builds a commission into the premium. Dutch law bans third-party commission on a set list of financial products. That rule has a Dutch name, the provisieverbod. Non-life insurance is not on its list, so it follows a different route, set out below.
| Service line | How it is paid |
|---|---|
| Tax work is a feeTaxSavers B.V. | You agree the price upfront, hourly or fixed. |
| Mortgage advice is a feeMortgage fee | A&H Finance advises on and arranges your mortgage. It invoices you for that advice and receives no commission from lenders. |
| Pension advice is a feePension fee | The pension advice comes with its own invoice. No provider pays for that advice. |
| Life and complex products: a feeAdvice fee | This covers an overlijdensrisicoverzekering (term life cover) and a lijfrente (an annuity). It also covers banksparen (bank savings for retirement) and an employer pension. Advice on these comes with its own invoice, not a premium-based commission. |
| Non-life insurance is a commissionCommission | Car, home and liability cover follow a different rule. The section below sets out how that works and which covers fall outside it. |
Mortgage, pension, life cover and other complex products are on the provisieverbod list. Tax advice falls outside this statute altogether. See what insurance advice covers. Each line has its own page: tax advice, mortgage advice, pension advice and insurance advice.
How do we charge for tax work?
TaxSavers B.V. does the tax work and charges you a fee for it. You agree the price before the work starts, either as a fixed price or an hourly rate. Our own terms and conditions put that duty on us, in article 12.
Tax advice falls outside the Wft, the Dutch financial supervision act. That is why there is no AFM registration number to show for this work. The AFM is the Dutch financial regulator.
Mortgage, insurance and pension advice works differently, because a different statute governs it. That advice comes from our associated company, New Business Group B.V. The next section sets out how it is paid.
Who advises on mortgage, insurance and pension?
Our associated company advises and arranges, not TaxSavers. Mortgage, insurance and pension advice is provided by A&H Finance, a trade name of New Business Group B.V. (AFM 12017511, Kifid 300.012773), our associated company. Bgfo is a Dutch financial regulation and Kifid handles financial complaints. TaxSavers introduces you. They advise and arrange.
TaxSavers B.V. holds a 49% stake in New Business Group B.V. Your agreement for this advice is with them. They advise you, arrange the product and invoice you. They are responsible for the service and TaxSavers is not a party to that agreement. TaxSavers charges nothing for mortgage, insurance or pension work and receives no fee per file. As a shareholder, TaxSavers B.V. does share in the results of New Business Group B.V. No referral fee changes hands on these three lines either.
The provisieverbod is in article 86c, first paragraph, of the Bgfo. It applies to a fixed list of products. A mortgage is on it. So are term life, individual disability, funeral and payment protection insurance. Complex products are on it too, such as investment insurance and an employer pension insurance. The ban names products, not professions. For those products they receive no commission from a bank or insurer. You pay for the advice yourself, even if you take no product. The ban is about commission from third parties and says nothing about the level or form of a fee. We consulted wetten.overheid.nl on 24 September 2026 and afm.nl on 17 September 2026.

How is non-life insurance paid?
Non-life insurance is paid by a commission built into the insurer's premium. Home, car and liability cover work this way. That commission covers the advice and the arrangement, and you get no separate invoice for it.
Since 1 July 2024 the existence, the nature and the amount of that commission must be disclosed actively. You are told that amount before you sign. If the amount is not yet known, you get the best possible estimate instead. The trigger is the contract date, not a flag day.
Four products read as insurance in everyday speech but fall on the other side of that line. They are the individuele arbeidsongeschiktheidsverzekering (individual disability cover) and the overlijdensrisicoverzekering (term life cover). The uitvaartverzekering (funeral cover) and the betalingsbeschermer (payment protection cover) complete the four. All four are on the Bgfo article 86c list, so a fee applies for them instead of a commission. Source wetten.overheid.nl consulted on 24 September 2026.
