HOW IT WORKS

Three steps. Most sessions are booked within five working days. Usually wrapped up within two weeks.

Advice session · 60–90 min

You receive your advice report before the meeting

In plain English. We walk through the report together, and you ask anything as we go. Before that, you send your documents and we review them.

You leave with a written advice report, shared before the meeting so you can prepare your questions.
The plan, in your inbox

Concrete next steps. No jargon, no grey areas.

The numbers behind the recommendation, and what we can help you execute. Come back anytime the situation changes.

You leave with a one-page plan and a follow-up question by email.

SITUATIONS WE SEE EVERY WEEK

Real questions, clear answers.

Representative scenarios from the past year — details changed, numbers realistic.

30% RULING

"Should I apply for partial non-resident status?"

An international with the 30% ruling and €180k in global investments wasn't sure whether partial non-resident status was worth choosing. We modelled both options and the saving over the remaining ruling period was €14,300. We filed the election and updated the return.

  • 30% ruling
  • Box 3
  • Foreign assets
MOVING

"I'm leaving NL in July — what do I file?"

Mid-year departure with a Dutch apartment kept for rental. We mapped the M-form, the exit tax position on pension rights, and the rental taxation going forward. Saved two accidental double-taxation events.

  • M-form (migration return)
  • Exit tax
  • Rental income
EQUITY

"When do I exercise my stock options?"

A tech employee with vested options worth €220k and a ruling expiring next year. We modelled three exercise windows so he could choose the one with the best net result. Net benefit: ~€38k.

  • Stock options
  • 30% ruling
  • Timing
LETTER

"The Belastingdienst says I owe €22,000. Do I?"

An unexpected assessment based on a misclassified income source. We filed an objection with full documentation and a correction. Final amount due: €0.

WHAT WE COVER

Every personal tax situation you're likely to face as an international.

We cover personal income tax strategy and the 30% ruling: application, optimisation and expiry. We also advise on partial non-resident status. We plan Box 3 on Dutch and foreign assets. Mortgage and homeowner tax are covered too. Equity compensation and transfers of pension and AOW state pension fall under it as well. So are gift and inheritance tax, and objections or corrections to past assessments. We also file your return afterward, on request.

Situations that feel rare to you are everyday for us.

What we don't cover here: business advice. That lives under Tax advice for business, with the same advisors and the same standards. It covers corporate tax for a BV (a Dutch private limited company) or holding. It also covers strategy for freelancers and the self-employed (ZZP). Salary planning for a DGA (a director who is also the main shareholder) and employer 30%-ruling programmes belong there too. We advise on Dutch tax only. Your home country filing stays with your local advisor.

“The best tax advice isn't about loopholes. It's about understanding your whole picture, so the decisions you make next actually fit the life you're building here.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Tax advice questions, answered straight.

Eight of the questions we answer most on the call. Your question not here? Ask your advisor

How is tax advice different from doing my tax return?
Advice is about decisions. A return is about reporting. You book advice when a decision is coming up: a new contract, a house purchase, an exercise window, a move abroad. You want to know the tax consequences before you act. A return files what has already happened.
Do I need tax advice if my situation feels simple?
Probably not. Most internationals with a standard salary, the 30% ruling, and nothing unusual abroad are served by a straightforward return. You need advice when something changes (job, house, marriage, country). You also need it when something complex is in play (options, property abroad, significant assets). See our income tax return service for internationals.
What does tax advice actually cost?
Tax advice starts from €750, including 21% VAT. You send your documents and information first. We write an advice report and share it before the meeting. In the meeting we go through it in detail. Every engagement starts with a free 20-minute call.
Can you advise and then also file for me?
Yes, and usually that's the cleaner path. Your advisor already knows your situation, so filing is faster and more accurate. Ask about adding your annual return when you book advice. Read more about our Dutch tax return service.
Will you help me respond to a Belastingdienst letter?
Yes. Bring the letter to your intro call or forward it by email. We read it, explain what it actually means, and draft the response together. Or we send it on your behalf. This is one of the most common reasons people book us.
How long does it take to get answers?
A typical session is booked within 5 working days and resolved within 2 weeks including the written advice report. Urgent cases (an imminent deadline, a pending objection) get priority, so tell us on the call and we'll move things up.
Is the advice confidential?
Yes. Your advisor keeps everything you share confidential. Nothing you discuss leaves our practice without your written consent.
Is this also for me if my situation is fully Dutch?
Yes. This advice is also for Dutch residents. We advise on Box 3 and your own home. It pays off most when something changes, like a house purchase or an inheritance.
