Entity and structure

What tax advice for entrepreneurs covers

Tax advice for entrepreneurs is about the decisions behind your figures. You run an eenmanszaak, a one-person business, or a bv, a private limited company. The set-up you chose years ago still shapes what you pay today.

We review your whole position, the business and your private finances together. Own the shares in your own bv? Then you are a DGA, a director who also owns them. Your salary is a pension decision as much as a tax one. Hold the 30% ruling as a DGA? We test how it affects your own salary.

We advise on how you set up your business and what that costs in tax. The return itself runs through our income tax service for entrepreneurs. Moved here with a company abroad? We look at both positions in one conversation.

How it works

Four steps to a clear answer

You know the next step before we start.

Scope

We scope and quote

We set out what we look at, what you get and what it costs. One decision fits one session. A wider review gets its own quote.

You leave with clarity on what is in scope and what is not.
Advice

We work through the figures with you

Business and private side together, on the figures you already have. Then we talk it through.

You leave with the options that fit, in plain language.
After

We stay reachable

Rules move and so do businesses. Your advisor keeps the file and picks up when you call. A new question gets its own quote before we start.

You leave with a file we keep for you.

“Most people arrive with a form to file. The question underneath is usually whether the set-up still fits. That is the one worth answering first.”

We quote a complex position separately and never bill you by surprise. We give tax advice. A&H Finance, our associated company, gives pension advice. A&H Finance also advises on mortgages and insurance.

Two roles

Your accountant files it We ask if it fits

A good accountant keeps the books right and the returns filed. We look at the structure behind them and tell you whether it still fits your plans.

Frequently asked

Your business tax questions, answered

These come up in almost every first call. Yours not here? Ask Kaylee

How is tax advice different from filing my return?
Advice is about a decision. Filing is about a year that already happened. You book advice when a choice is coming up, such as a new legal form or a dividend. For the return itself, our filing service for entrepreneurs takes it on. If you own a bv, its corporate income tax return is not part of this advice. Ask on the free call who can prepare it, and we point you to the right person.
Is an eenmanszaak or a bv better for me?
That depends on your figures, your risk and where you are heading. A bv usually starts to pay off at a higher profit. That crossover is a rule of thumb, not a threshold. We work it out on your own figures.
What salary do I have to pay myself as a DGA?
Your DGA salary must be at least the highest of three amounts. Those are the pay for the most comparable job, the pay of your best-paid employee and a statutory minimum. The minimum changes every year, so we check it against the current rules before we advise. If you hold the 30% ruling we check how it applies to that salary. We set out what that means for your salary before you decide.
What happens to my bv if I emigrate?
Leaving the Netherlands with a substantial interest sets off a conserverende aanslag. That is a protective assessment on a gain you have not yet realised. The rules are year-bound, so we plan it with you well before you set a date.
Can you give a second opinion on my current advisor?
Yes. We review your current set-up and tell you plainly what we would change. We say so just as plainly when it already fits. A good advisor for the Dutch situation is not automatically a specialist in cross-border structuring. Own a company abroad? We look at both countries and the tax treaty between them.
Do you also file our VAT and ICP returns?
VAT and ICP filing is a separate service. The ICP return lists your supplies to EU customers. We advise on the cross-border VAT questions behind it. The filing itself runs through our VAT return service.
