An AVB pays for injury to people and damage to things. A BAV pays for pure financial loss from professional advice or mistakes. That is the damage an AVB never touches.
Contracts often say professional liability while the work is mostly hands-on, or the other way round. So the advice starts at the clause and the work, not at the product name.
For five professions the law requires a BAV. The five are named in the FAQ below. The exact duty sits in each profession's own rules. For everyone else it is a choice that follows the work you do.
Cover also stops at a territory. Your own terms state your tier. Dutch policies commonly run in three tiers. These are the Netherlands, Europe and worldwide excluding the United States and Canada. Work for a foreign client can fall outside your tier. You get that confirmed before you sign anything.
