Tax advisor
Aarnav is a tax advisor at TaxSavers. He helps freelancers keep their bookkeeping in order and file their quarterly VAT returns and income tax return. His focus is on VAT, self-employment and income tax for entrepreneurs.
My clients keep track of invoices, income from different sources and a VAT return every quarter. I know that pile well, because I have freelanced myself.
I grew up in Mumbai, India. In 2021 I moved to the Netherlands to study Business Administration at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Finance and accounting were the subjects I enjoyed most. I have always liked working with numbers. Tax caught my interest early on, and I even ended up doing my own tax returns.
Before my career in tax, I worked as a personal trainer. I still do, alongside my work at TaxSavers. I enjoyed the active side of it. Over time, though, I wanted a career where I could keep learning, solve problems and use my analytical skills more. Tax gave me that, and it lets me help people at the same time.
At TaxSavers I am part of the entrepreneurs team. I help freelancers with their bookkeeping, their quarterly VAT returns and their income tax return. It is a group I understand well, because I know what working for yourself asks of you. That makes it easier to see what you are facing and to explain what you need to do.
Tax does not need to sound more complicated than it is. I skip the unnecessary jargon and explain things in a simple, practical way. Every question is welcome, however basic it feels to you.
There is always something new to learn in this role. I got hands-on experience from the start, and that suits me: practice, learn and keep improving. Outside work I am almost always active. I train, run and organise a weekly run club. I also spend time on photography, videography and content creation.
What matters most to me is how you feel after we speak. I want you to feel seen, heard and understood, not like just another number.
