What it is
A voorlopige aanslag pays your expected tax refund in monthly instalments, instead of once a year. Most people use it for mortgage interest relief (hypotheekrenteaftrek): own a home with a mortgage and you get that money back every month, rather than after your annual return. It works the other way too, if you expect to owe tax you can spread the payment. We look at your full picture. Then we request or adjust the assessment with the Belastingdienst. Does something change later? Then we adjust it again. A voorlopige aanslag continues automatically into the new year.
