How we work

A tax advisor for Amsterdam, working across the Netherlands.

You share your documents online, so nothing waits on a fixed appointment.

You keep the same advisor from year to year. That advisor brings in the mortgage, insurance and pension specialists we work with when you need them. In Amsterdam that matters, because a ground lease question is usually a mortgage question too. Our office is in Amstelveen, directly south of Amsterdam.

More about how we work with internationals is on our tax advisor page.

Frequently asked

What Amsterdam clients ask us most

Questions we answer in nearly every Amsterdam call. Got a different one? Ask Menno

My Amsterdam home is on municipal ground lease. Does that change my tax return?
Yes. For that ground lease you pay the municipality a yearly canon. In Amsterdam the land under most homes belongs to the city, so this comes up often. On your own home that canon is usually deductible, in the same place as your mortgage interest. We work out which part of what you pay qualifies.
How do we work together in Amsterdam?
By phone or on Teams, at a time that suits your day. Your advisor works for clients across the Netherlands, Amsterdam included. Our office is TaxSavers, Amsterdamseweg 71A, 1182GP Amstelveen.
I moved to Amsterdam last year for a job at a European head office. Which return do I file?
The M-form, because you were a Dutch resident for part of that year only. It asks for the whole year, including the months before you arrived. That is why it takes longer than a standard return. An Amsterdam head-office arrival usually means two payrolls in one year, a foreign one and a Dutch one. We put both sides in the same return. Read how the M-form works.
I bought off my erfpacht. What does that do to my tax return?
It depends on how you paid for it. A buy-off pays for the use of the land. It is not automatically part of your eigenwoningschuld, the debt on your own home. If you borrow the money, that loan can count as eigenwoningschuld and its interest is usually deductible. We go through your figures with you before we file anything. Read more about ground lease.
