How we work

Your advisor fits around your rotation

You and your advisor speak by phone or on Teams, when it suits your rotation.

Our clients sit all over the Netherlands. Rotterdam's port economy is part of that, every filing season. Those jobs follow rotations, sea days and project postings. A fixed appointment at an office is the wrong shape for that.

The same advisor stays with your file from one year to the next.

More about how we work with internationals is on our tax advisor page.

“Most of the people I advise here are not in the Netherlands every week. We do the work by phone and on Teams, in the hour that fits between shifts. Some of my clients I have never met at a desk. Their returns still get the same attention.”

Frequently asked

Questions for a tax advisor in Rotterdam

These come up most with people working out of Rotterdam. Ask your advisor about the rest. Ask Menno

I work part of the year outside the Netherlands. Does that change my Dutch return?
Yes. It is one of the situations we handle most here. A tax treaty decides which country may tax the part of your salary you earned abroad. You claim relief for double taxation in your Dutch return. Separate rules apply to work on board ships and to offshore work. We work out which of them fit your contract and your days. Then we file your return.
I live outside the Netherlands and my income comes from here. Which return is mine?
You file as a non-resident taxpayer. You may also qualify for more than that. The extra route is open if you live in the EU, the EEA, Switzerland or the BES islands. You also need nearly all of your income to be Dutch. Then you can count as a qualifying non-resident taxpayer, a kwalificerende buitenlandse belastingplichtige. That opens the same deductions and tax credits a resident gets. The Belastingdienst can ask for an income statement from your own country's tax authority. We check whether that applies to your year. We check whether you qualify and prepare that statement with you.
How do we work together in Rotterdam?
By phone or on Teams, at a time that fits your rotation. Your advisor works for clients across the Netherlands, Rotterdam included. Our office is TaxSavers, Amsterdamseweg 71A, 1182GP Amstelveen.
My employer posted me here from abroad this year. What do I file?
Your first Dutch return for a move year is the M-form. It covers the part of the year you lived here and the part you did not. A posting to a Rotterdam employer often runs alongside a foreign payroll, a housing allowance or a 30% ruling decision. All of that goes into the same return. We prepare that return and file it for you. The same M-form applies in the year you leave the Netherlands.
